There's people that eat because they are hungry, there's people that eat solely to survive, some eat very little types of foods and don’t ever expand their taste buds, some eat protein based diets to change their bodies, and some of us eat because we absolutely love food more than any of the other types of people listed could ever understand. Food is one of my loves, one of my vices, one of my guilty pleasures that I struggle with daily. If it wasn’t for wanting to be skinny and enjoy summers wearing a bikini in Miami, I would be the biggest fatty (brutal honesty). Sometimes I let go of my inhibitions, my self restrictions, and during these times I say "to hell with it" and just eat whatever I desire at that moment. When I engage in this type of behavior it’s most likely on the weekend, and it’s going to be special. I’m going all out, I'm going to my one of my favorite restaurants and I’m doing it big.
Unfortunately I can not live every day like this. I pay for my love for food with 3 to 5 times a week visits to the gym, and eating cantina (food delivery service) during the week, just so that I can be able to indulge come Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday. Since last June, I have been on and off ordering this healthy food delivery service called fat busters. At the beginning I loved it. I thought it was so delicious, and such a good way to keep yourself controlled. I would order it for a month then take a week off, then start the cycle again. After almost a year of eating the same food delivery service everything basically starts to taste the same, no matter how many different options are offered. Tomorrow I’m starting a new one, its called Fit2Go. I am very excited and looking forward to trying something new. I ordered it every day for the rest of the week, and on Friday I will update with what I thought and how it compares to fat busters.

It Happens Every Spring
The next two weekends of February in Miami are going to be very enjoyable. A couple of my favorite yearly events are happening, and I couldn’t be looking forward to them anymore than I am. I can understand why these yearly events are scheduled during this time of the year, the weather outside is probably the most beautiful it can be. The highs are in the mid 70s and lows in the 60s with the sun out all day. I don’t think you can find a place in the US that is experiencing more beautiful weather than Miami is right now. This weekend is the 48th Coconut Grove Arts Festival February 19-21, always a favorite. Grab a beer a yummy snack and walk around the streets of the grove and peacock park looking at art and listening to some great live music. Is there anything about that, that someone would not like? Probably Not. It is also the Miami International Boat Show February 17-21. Then next weekend my favorite yearly event probably of all time the Food Network's Wine & Food Festival February 24-27. Though mostly sold out there are still some tickets available for the Grand Tasting on Saturday and Sunday, also the Closing party on Sunday night along with a couple of other events. The closing party is sounding really tempting to me right now. Guy Fieri is hosting who I love thanks to diner, drive-ins, and dives. Its at the Gansevoort, set at 6pm right as the sun is setting, hmmm there might be some last minute ticket buying. So get out there and have a great time exploring this beautiful city that we live in the next couple of weekends, I know I will. Stay tuned for some more great events coming in March, such as Ultra Music Festival, Swedish House Mafia, Sony Ericsson Open. Its crazy how time flies but with so many good things to look forward too I am not complaining.

In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning
What is your favorite time of the day? It might be easy, or it might be hard to find the answer to this question, and I have contemplated over this long enough to be sure that my favorite time of the day is morning. It was not always morning, and I think it use to be the night time, but in the past couple of years that has changed and now I know its morning. There is just something about waking up and knowing you have a fresh new day. A new day to fix whatever may have gone wrong yesterday, to do better, and to be happy about. I’m not always what you would call…a morning person, especially when I have to go to work, but on weekends when I don’t have work or the pressure of being anywhere by any specific time I seem to wake up on my own earlier than what my alarm clock is set for on the weekdays and very cheerful. I’ve always found it comical how it works out that way. What do I love most about mornings? Well it depends what day it is and where I'm waking up. Lets say it’s a Thursday (like this morning) what I love about waking up is being able to lie in bed for just a couple of moments/minutes in that stage between barely asleep and fully awake. Just being able to have those moments and thoughts to myself when it’s peaceful. Then seeing my puppy, tato, and him looking at me with that face that I love so much. Lets say it’s a Saturday morning, and I’m waking up before any of my friends are awake or even close to being ready to do anything with the day. I wake up, normally to a full TiVO of shows I had NO time to watch during the week, getting to pick which one of my favorite shows I am going to watch, drinking freshly brewed coffee and just knowing I have nothing to do for the next few hours. Or maybe deciding if I want to go for a morning run (though it does not happen as often as it should) when it does happen it’s a great feeling. Lets say you’re waking up with someone, someone that you are happy to be waking up with, we have all been there....how great is that feeling of waking up and cuddling and staying in bed in and out of sleep. So yes, the morning is my favorite time of the day. When you wake up tomorrow, take a couple extra moments to lay alone with your thoughts and think about all the good things that are going to happen through out the day and everything that is yet to come.

Ring a Ding Ding
I’ve been back from vacation since Sunday and today is when I'm finally starting to feel like myself again. You know how sometimes vacations suck more energy from you than replenish you. Yep...that’s kind of what i've been going through since the week of Christmas. The last three weeks have definitely been non-stop. Though, I am pretty sad that time is over, because there is NOTHING like Christmas, I’m more excited and happy to start the New Year. I spent Christmas in Miami with family and friends. Then on the 26th we left on a Caribbean cruise to Cozumel, Belize, Isla Roatan, and Grand Cayman. One would think that would be a really relaxing vacation and at times it was but at times it was not. Having an unlimited "sail & sign" card to drink you’re little heart away can lead you into some trouble, some not sleeping so good nights, and some exhausting mornings when you arrive at your port of call at 8am. New Year's Eve was like nothing I have ever seen before. Imagine around 4,000 people on the lido deck of a cruise ship listening to a live band, watching the live NYC countdown, each group/family with their own buckets of champagne. It was a New Year's for the memory books and I won’t be forgetting it or all the other memories that were made any time soon. It’s nice to get away with your immediate family and just reconnect.
As for what I have planned for the New Year....I plan on the same thing I plan on every year just becoming an all around better person. I’m not a big fan of specific New Year’s resolution, like “I quit coca cola”, “I quit swearing”, and “I’m going to the gym everyday”. Most of the times those are resolutions that are made to be broken. Why do you need January 1, to quit Coke? And as for changing your whole gym routine because it’s January 1… good luck with that. Those are things that need to be done in moderation if you want to succeed. I’ve basically given myself this week to slowly recover from the holidays, to catch up on sleep and get myself together. I will be at the gym like all the other new years resolution people very soon, but the difference is that i’ve been there for a long time, and all I will be thinking is: I cant wait for all these people to quit their resolutions so that the gym isn’t full anymore, and I don’t have to wait for the elliptical machine! hahaha
I wish everyone a happy and healthy year! Don’t make changes just because its the 1st or come Lent (another favorite time when people give up for coke for 40 days, I don’t think that’s what God was intending but that’s just my opinion) Change what you want TODAY and make every day count. Every day is a blessing and a chance to make it just a little bit better.

The Song is You
Music. Think about where you would be if there was no music. How would you celebrate, how would you deal with your emotions, how would you get crazy and party, how would you fall in love? Sometimes when I hear specific songs I get this feeling down in my core to my gut that the song had to have been written for me and for what I am dealing with at that exact moment. I find it so fascinating that a different genre of music a different artist can change your whole entire mood and attitude. Music can transform you and move you to different times of your life, i know that certain songs for me take me back to specific moments and they will always hold their special place. I have to believe that everyone has felt this before, that powerful feeling that you cant help but just relive when you hear that special song. My all time favorite of course being Frank Sinatra I love every single song, but some in specific touch me so emotionally that unless you feel it, I don’t think it can be described to you. There’s music for falling in love, music for breaking up, and music for partying and letting go forgetting about everything. To say that you are only a fan of one or two specific genres to me is just depriving yourself of everything that can be good in music and life. Open yourself up listen to everything the old classics, the songs that everyone knows, and the ones that maybe only you and a couple of your friends know. Music has saved me so many times I just wanted to say thank you, i am grateful to have you in my life.
