The Bachelor Season 16 - Episode 5

This actually happened!

WOW! What an episode that was in Vieques, Puerto Rico. Really I cant discuss anything else besides skinny dipping with a "model" (who makes the most horrible muecas, that's faces in Spanish, i have ever seen) and Jennifer being unexpectedly sent home. I mean this man of a bachelor, Ben, kept this super classy girl (sarcasm) Blakeley - scroll down to #5 - and sent Jennifer home. He's must be confused and think he is on a show about who will give it up the fastest instead of finding true love. Well hey that is basically what the bachelor has become now a days - how sad. We already know Courtney most likely gave it up while they were skinny dipping. Yea, at this point I'm pretty much completely disappointed in and disgusted by Ben. Just like I thought I would be when ABC decided to pick him as the Bachelor, but in a much much deeper way, this guy has surpassed even the worst of expectations I had for him. I really just want to fast forward this whole crap to the what you know is going to be a drama filled after the rose special. Because honestly I really hope the decent good girls who are so much better than Ben rip this guy a new one. If I was Kacie B, Lindzi, Nicki or Emily I would straight up be embarrassed to be competing for a guy with girls like Courtney and Blakeley. Oh and let’s not forget a girl that I have yet to even see Ben speak with, Jaime. Yea Ben gave a girl that he has not even had one conversation with, Jaime, a rose over Jennifer who he just shared a perfect one-on-one date with and repeatedly re assured her he was into her.

Some very interesting and funny fashion highs of the night were Nicki's incredibly tacky dress during her one on one date. The dress was so horrible God rained on it so she had to change, thank you God. Second what in the world was up with Ben's capri blue and black suit and funny looking bow tie during his one on one date with Elysee. He literally looked as though he stepped straight out of a cartoon show. It baffles me that the producers would let these people be seen on national television looking like fools. Third why do I keep seeing these bachelorettes with Chanel No. 9 and Chanel No. 5 tshirts? Did they all go shopping together at Forever21 and buy matching tshirts before the show aired? Fourth and probably my favorite Courtney opening up the episode with a "be nice" t shirt on, WOW, that girl could not be nice if her life depended on it.

I just have to say how adorable is Kacie B next to Ben on the right!
Too sweet, genuine, sincere, and pretty to even be in the same room as Courtney.

Next week were off to Panama and I can't wait to see who goes home, but most of all I'm excited were getting closer and closer to the end. I am so excited for the bachelor season to be behind us and have Emily be the bachelorette. Finally a girl that can dress! And not to mention compose herself and behave as a lady should. Emily's season needs to hurry hurry hurry!!!

Honestly best Bachelorette ever! AHHHH can not wait to have her back on TV <3

PS: Thank you to my girlfriends who come to watch this mess of a show with me. It would not be any fun if I didn’t have my friends with to laugh about Ben's hair, the crazy girls, and the outlandish remarks they make. Thank you Rosanna, Karina, Jess, Jen, Kristi, Bex, Annie, Cyn and Barbie!

The Man Repeller

Have you ever wondered how one of the most popular bloggers out there, Leandra Medine, came up with the name Man Repeller for her blog? Well I have the answer for you! A couple weeks ago I attended a special style & meet event at The Webster Miami and got to meet Leandra for myself. I was beyond excited to attend because as a blogger I of course look up to Leandra and what she has been able to accomplish through her blog. I got to meet her and talk with her for about thirty minutes shared with my friend Rebecca, and I must say she was beyond nice! I first asked her what she thought about my outfit and how she would have styled it differently. She complimented me on my blouse (equipment) and my shoes (miu miu) which of course made me blush. She then rolled up my skinny jeans and said it looked better that way because my shoes were more easily seen and she was right. I absolutely loved how it looked, needless to say since then I have been rolling up / cuffing all my skinny jeans. It is so surprising what one little change can do to the overall look.
Leandra & Myself
I asked Leandra why the name Man Repeller? The story was actually very funny and my friend and I could not stop laughing while she was telling it to us. Leandra was shopping in a store in New York with her friend and she was telling her friend about the three current guys she was dating. Explaining how they are were all very nice guys but none of them wanted to get serious or commit to her. Leandra and her friend were going back and forth as to all the reasons why it could be that the guys were not committing when all of a sudden the words just came out of her mouth - is it because I am a Man Repeller? No Leandra could never be an actual Man Repeller, this is just a common problem of guys in NYC and Miami, trust me, we also deal with the non committal guys.

How do you get a small blog with a couple followers to explode into a huge phenomenon with over 11,000 followers?! The advice she gave me is first you don't quit, no matter what you keep going and you keep writing. Number two is how just one small thing can change your life forever. For example like when the New York Times did a post on The Man Repeller explaining the meaning behind the name, which is to dress for yourself and wear what makes you happy and not men and how it is a good thing, her blog exploded literally overnight. Thank you Leandra for being so nice and for all the advice you offered me. Also thank you for the "armparty" and for re-assuring me that it's okay to eat roman noodles for a week because I just blew my whole entire paycheck on a fabulous leather jacket or the newest stilettos. It was a pleasure meeting you.

The Bachelor Season 16 - Episode 4

I do owe a bachelor re-cap and I must say I am having a difficult time writing it. I really don’t want to be a negative nancy and sit here and talk about all the reasons why Courtney sucks, and why I really do NOT like (not going to use the word hate) girls like her on a daily basis. So after some thought I have decided to just write about what I like about the show - so yes Courtney is being left out on purpose. She is a horrible person; she treats all the other girls like they are beneath her. I don’t care what your profession is if its a model, actress, princess of the universe don’t treat other people like Courtney does its just plain UGLY.

What I am loving about the Bachelor though is Kacie B, Jennifer, and Lindzi. These are the girls I would hang out with and be friends with on the show, the true genuine girls on the show. I’ve learned after years of watching this show that eventually everyone's true colors shine through. Some take longer than others, some are during taping, or on the after the rose special, or during the months after the season has aired, or even during Bachelor Pad, but one thing I know for sure is that those colors eventually shine through. What these girls have going for them is that they are genuine sincere nice girls and I am pretty sure they will stay like that through time.

The episode started with a one-on-one date with Ben and Rachel. All very nice, loved the helicopter ride and the hike in the woods. I must admit though the whole date did have a little essence of the Blair Witch Project. He gave her the rose not sure if it’s because he's crazy about her, he felt sparks, he just a really nice guy, or he wants to get to know her better. All in all I kind of like Rachel I don’t think they are the best match but she seems like a nice girl so I am happy she will be around for some more episodes.

Next up was the group date - the group date that Courtney decided to turn into a one-on-one date (but as I said before not talking about her). I really wish Lindzi would have caught a fish, mostly because she is an outdoorsy girl and seemed most in her element so it would have been nice to see her shine while fishing. After fishing the girls and Ben all went to lounge by the pool and have some more drinks. You know this scenario it’s the norm while on a group date on the Bachelor. I loved the different perspectives that were shown between Nicki & Samantha. They are both attractive 26 year old young ladies, but they clearly see things very differently and it was so clear to see that back to back on the group date. On one hand we have Nicki super sweet and thanking Ben for making sure to bring her out on a date in every city that they have visited. Even if they have all been group dates she's thankful because she realizes some girls have not gone out on any dates at all. Then we have Samantha, who is complaining and asking Ben why she has only been asked out on group dates basically telling him she does not want to go on any more group dates and wants a one-on-one. Yes, I was shocked that Ben abruptly sent her home right then and there but at the same time she showed him who she was and he wasn’t having any of it. He didn’t like her entitled attitude, better than keeping her around for no reason.

Onto the one-on-one date with Jennifer and Ben! Absolutely adorable!!!! Jennifer is simply delightful. I really do like her and I hope Ben does too. He has basically said over and over again that she is the BEST kisser in the house, but I hope there are more reasons than just that as to why he is keeping her on the show. Their concert date was adorable and they seemed so comfortable together, they just fit together so well. Then we had the rose ceremony, only one person sent home and that was Monica. No big surprise here I hardly saw them interact and she is like 5 or 6 years older than him. Compared to Kacie B and the rest of the girls poor Monica didn’t stand a chance. Next up: Vieques Island, Puerto Rico! (Oh, BTW Courtney was just there two months ago, poor poor girl!)

Bachelor Mondays

Normally I am not a fan of Mondays, the whole entire day just seems like a punishment. Except during bachelor, bachelorette, and bachelor pad seasons I actually look forward to Mondays and especially Monday nights. Of course I wonder and think about what will happen on the show and actually watching. More than that I get excited because for some years now every Monday while the three shows are on my family and friends all get together at my house to watch and laugh at the seriously ridiculous crazy things some of these characters say. We drink champagne and wine, snack on small bites, eat cupcakes and just have a really enjoyable night. For this I must thank ABC and the bachelor franchise, thank you for making Mondays bearable and enjoyable!

Here are some pictures to help you understand exactly what a Monday night "Bachelor" party at my house entails.  Some shots from this past Monday.

Cheers to YOU Chris Harrison :)

Yardbird

Yardbird has been on my food to-do list since I accidentally drove by its corner location a couple months ago. I couldn't miss it largely in part because of the huge bright lights that spell out YARDBIRD and the overflow of people that were waiting inside and outside the restaurant (always a good sign). I am a huge fan of southern cooking so i already had a feeling i was going to love this place. This past weekend I was finally able to eat at yardbird and I have great things to share about it. I strongly suggest making reservation, we had one, and while i was giving my name another group of people came and asked to be seated the wait time was an hour and thirty minutes! So go on opentable.com or call up yardbird and make a reservation!

My Friend and I wanted to try as much as we could so we ordered the things that called our attention the most and just shared everything. Above is what we ordered for appetizers or small shares (as yardbird calls them). Both were really good if i had to pick between the two i think i loved the chicken biscuits just a little bit more. The BLT was also delicious, I just didn't love the pimiento cheese between the tomato and pork belly.

Mama’s Chicken Biscuits
Bell & Evans fried chicken, pepper jelly, housemade buttermilk biscuit

Fried Green Tomato BLT
Snake River Farms Pork Belly, greens, fried green tomatoes, Tabasco glaze

Those small shares were not that small so we were already feeling a little full after the first course. We had already ordered our entree which we shared as well. Shrimp & Grits is a long time favorite dish of mine so when i saw it on the menu i knew i had to have to it.

Shrimp n’Grits
Florida shrimp, crisp Edwards VA ham, Adluh SC stone ground grits

Macaroni and Cheese
torchio pasta, Grayson, VA cheese, crispy herb crust
(I love the serving dish and the little chicken!)

Last but definitely not least: dessert! I have a confession to make... I have never been much of a sweets person, but lately something has changed and i have become obsessed with sweets and dessert. UGH! this is so not a good thing. I made sure to save space because as i saw all the desserts being brought to different tables around me my mouth was watering and i knew dessert was going to be an amazing experience. We decided on a blueberry tart with sweet corn ice cream! WOW it was probably my favorite thing we ate.

Golden Globes Best Dressed

Top Five Favorites at the Golden Globes

ONE
Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen.
I especially love the sweetheart neckline of the dress and the tousled "bed head" hair.

TWO
Charlize Theron in Christian Dior.
I love the deep V in the front (and the back though you cant see it here). The sparkle headband and simple shoes. Not to mention in one my favorite colors that is now a top trend the blush champagne.

THREE
Emma Stone in Lanvin.
Love the deep color against her pale skin. The eye makeup is perfection. But I especially love the belt with the eagle way to be different!

FOUR
Jessica Alba in Gucci.
Another blush tone dress i just adore this color. Love her chandelier earrings and box clutch.

FIVE
Claire Danes in J. Mendel.
I've had a huge crush on Claire since Romeo & Juliet so to me she is always darling! I especially love the black and white color combo and the beautiful open back.
Favorite After Party looks at the Golden Globes.
(In no particular order)

Emma Roberts in Zac Posen.
Rachel Zoe in Rachel Zoe.

Felicity Jones

Kristen Wiig
Jaime Chung (obsessed with her neon color blocking pumps!)

P.S. I know it's a little late but having the day off on Monday messed up my whole schedule. Awards ceremony time is my favorite time to see everyone dressed up and I could not resist sharing who my favorites were! :)
